The research training group (RTG), integrated into the SFB 1481 Sparsity and Singular Structures supports all doctoral students working on their research projects. Doctoral students are involved in high-level research projects at the frontier of current mathematical knowledge and have opportunities to develop their research profiles under the guidance of experienced researchers. PhD students are supervised by project leaders of the SFB and additional support is provided through the mentoring program.
The qualification program provides the doctoral students with comprehensive, structured training in the fields of sparsity and singular structures and includes the following elements:

- annual spring school
- annual retreat
- workshops
- transferable skills training courses
